The characters in my film

There are three main characters in the movie: Boris, Jim and Nicola.

 All of which do not have a certain age. Their age is not identified to the audience, however they do behave like young adults/ older teenagers. The use of a pocket knife and torch suggests that they know what they need to survive long enough to look for alternate equipment. This could underline the fact that they are quite mature.  (Boris is holding the knife and Nicole is holding the torch).
Nicola is the only female out of the three and she is presented as independent and straight forward. Almost as though she is the one in charge as she had to break up the fight between Boris and Jim. This also suggests that she is more sensible than the other two and she is not interested in fighting. Alternatively, this could suggest that she doesn't want to fight as she is female and she is 'following society's norm ' of women not being able to fight men or being able to fight at all. A strong leader role in a post-apocalyptic film is Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games. Nicola's prevalence is also longer than the others' and the long take of a close up of Nicola's face suggests that she is of importance.

Stereotypes of a female in a position to survive are usually: the female dies, the female brings the others down or the female is weak and vulnerable. In our film Nicola is quite strong hearted and strong minded. This is reflected by the fact that Nicola is the one to go and explore what 'the noise' was when all three of the characters are sat down. Additionally, Nicola is the one to separate the fight between Boris and Jim.
The other two character, Boris and Jim are represented as opinionated and are shown as leaders in a way. This is due to the fact that they both argue about the situation and are quite aggressive with what they're saying.

When Boris goes out to inspect what the noise was he starts to get dragged away. This goes against typical plots of a post-apocalyptic story as it is usually the female which gets injured or attacked. An example of this is in 5th Wave when Cassie gets shot in the leg.

Nicola is not the one to get hurt it was Boris who got attacked. The long shot of Boris being dragged away is quite mysterious as the audience is able to see Boris getting dragged away but cannot see who or what by. This makes the audience feel worried for Boris as they don't know what he is up against.

Usually, the survivors of a post-apocalyptic film are adults and they are usually protecting themselves or a younger family member. World War Z, the main character tries to find a 'cure' in order to save himself and his family and in The 5th Wave Cassie tries to look after her little brother, but Cassie is protected by Evan Walker. In my movie all three of the individuals are slightly younger than a usual adult age, they are more like older teens 17-19 years of age, with no child to look after, just each other. 
Jim is quite an independant character and is very confident with his ideas which is quite typical of male characters in post apocalyptic films. One example of this is Gerry Lane in World War Z. Gerry Lane is the main character in WWZ and has a dominant personality which is similar to Jim.

Research 

To research for the film we used google and YouTube. Google is a very useful software as we were able to search into films we had seen before on numerous websites. However, some of these websites were either inaccurate or wanted money to access information, therefore we had to be cautious  which websites we got information from. YouTube was simple and easy to use as it is a programme which we use almost everyday, just like google. YouTube was useful for looing at videos, however sometimes to search for a specific clip we had to look for the full film, which meant we had to buy the film unless we searched for the clip on some more channels.
We tried not to use Wikipedia, because sometimes the information on Wikipedia is wrong as anyone can change the information, therefore the information we could have gathered could have bee wrong. However, we did use Wikipedia to look into some distributors in the UK.
IMDB was our most reliable source to look for information as this is a professional website which is frequently used for data about films. The only downfall with this site is that it does not include clips from the films, which is what we needed to use as back up as to why we included the things we did in our film which was influenced by other films.
Production
To produce our film we used a various amount of technology. To record the film we used a Panasonic HD camera which had very good quality allowing the audience to see clearly what was going off. Additionally, we used one of the group member's own camera (John), which also had good quality and luckily, the audience didn't notice the change from wen we used John's camera to using the Panasonic HD camera.
To produce the script we used CELTEX which was a very useful software. The layout was easy to understand, however there was a lot of caning between different parts of the script, which made the process of making the script longer than what it should have, as most of the group were not experienced with using CELTEX.
Editing

To edit the film we used Premier Pro. This software is very useful as it allows you to edit the clip and insert sound and create better clips than the original ones we have recorded. However, the layout of the software is quite confusing as things are all over the screen which can be confusing for people who haven't used it before. I found this software quite difficult but I had help from my group when using it.
How we decided which film to make
To actually crate the film we all decided on an idea for a film and we all work together to decide on which one was the most suitable. There was some conflict, however we all came to an agreement to do John's film.
The storyboard was easy to make, however the drawings of the storyboard were limited as we were not so good at drawing which meant we didn't have precise detail to follow from.

SECTION SEVEN OF THE EVALUATION

How did the preliminary task help?

In our preliminary task we found it easy to stick to the match on action and shot reverse shot rules. The only struggles we had was deciding where to place the camera to make sure the audience could see the right objects at the right time.

This specific shot reverse shot of John and Connor was very useful for us as we knew what we had to do for the actual film. We were not allowed to cross the 180degree line, which we didnt in the film we made.
At the part where Connor (Jim) argues with John (Boris), the camera cuts to a close up of Connor as he begins to talk. After that, a retaliation is made by Nicole once the two boys start arguing, where by then the camera cuts to Nicole to give a retaliation shot, which is the reverse shot. (Connor is not talking to Nicole, he is talking to John whilst he is sat in between John and Nicole but Nicole retaliates to what Connor said).

 We have also included a match on action in our film which made the movement of John look a lot more quick. This is quite similar to the match on action in the preliminary task as in both videos there is a door being opened and a door being closed. This made it easy for us to complete the match on action without maximum effort as we had already done a similar match on action before. The match on action is when John starts to shut the door. At first there is a point of view shot which is meant to be John and then the camera changes to a different angle by where the audience could see that it was John running.

It is evident to see that we have developed our skill at the match on action, as in the preliminary task we only did a match on action edit when Connor opened up the doors and we didn't do any other match on actions after that. In DNA-Pocalypse we used match on actions frequently as we figured it would be more realalistic and entertaining for the audience.

For our post apocalyptic film we will be shooting in the college car park in a cage to show that our characters only have the essentials for their survival and they are having to camp in an "abandoned" building for their survival. We decided to film in this location for several reasons. One reason for filming in the college car park is because of how hollow it is. Having a hollow setting is effective in a post apocalyptic film as voices from our characters will echo creating a tense atmosphere contributing to the theme of a post apocalyptic film. Another reason for filming in this location is that this place is very easy to get to for all our group members so recording it will be effective and easy to manage.

We will be filming most of our film in this location as the film is about how the characters survive an outbreak of clones whilst focusing on the development of the characters and how they have to adapt to their surroundings to survive. This will make the test purposefully tricky as they are enclosed and have a lack of supplies to fend off the clones. When filming, we have to ensure that we record at the same time of day everyday we record as their is a window in the car park shining in daylight. Therefore if we don't record at the same time each day, the continuity of our film will be terrible.
